What are the best tires for Jeep Wranglers? When you purchase a new Jeep Wrangler, they generally come stock tires, ideal for driving on-road. They look great, and are the perfect size for your Jeep, but they may not actually be the best choice for you.
The best tire for your Jeep Wrangler depends on how you plan to drive it. If you frequently go off-road, you may need larger off-road or all-terrain tires with deep grooves to expel excess rocks and dirt. If you spend most of your time on the pavement, a pair of high quality all-terrain, all-season tires will ensure maximum drive comfort and minimum road noise.
Our categories of the best tires for Jeep Wranglers are sorted by both how you plan to use your tire and what your budget is. We’ll be giving some of the best options from many brands that Tire Agent carries. Remember that when you order a new set of tires with Tire Agent, affordable payment plans are available to make your new set of perfect tires attainable, and shipping within the continental US is always free.
Find tires for new and used Jeeps, including the best tires for:
Or! Skip the list and go straight to shopping. Shop for replacement tires for your Jeep Wrangler, Cherokee, Compass, Patriot, Liberty and all the makes and models of Jeep.
Looking for aftermarket wheels for your Jeep? We got you covered: Best After-Market Rims for Wranglers.
You'll find plenty of options for on- and off-road handling and comfort, but you'll find that the Falken Wildpeak A/T3W and Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac make frequent appearances in best-in-class tire recommendations. Both Wildpeak and DuraTrac are available in OEM tire size or larger, including 33-inch and 35-inch tires, which are common sizes people seek when up-sizing their Jeep tires.
The Falken WILDPEAK A/T3W is designed for all-weather adventure and often makes the list of best all terrain tires for Jeep Wrangler and other Jeep 4x4s. It blends robust off-road capability with difficult terrain driving without sacrificing pavement performance.
The A/T3W excels in three areas: wear, winter, and wet performance (get it? 3 W?), thanks to an improved tread design and a silica tread compound. From Falken's trademarked 3D Canyon Sipes to a customized lower sidewall, this tire is jam-packed with technology. Full-depth sipes and grooves keep the tire's performance and appearance consistent.
Also great in this category for all-around A/T tires is the Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac, a rugged off-road tire that provides a quieter ride on normal roads. The robust tread design is ideal for towing and carrying work trucks, but it also supports off-road grip for Jeeps.
It's hard to select only a few top favorites for this category. In fact, both Goodyear DuraTrac and Falken Wildpeak A/T3W could make this short list as well. Here are three more worth noting:
CoreGard Technology in the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tire is derived from its race-proven Baja T/A KR2 tire. Split and bruise-resistant sidewall rubber, improved rubber thickness, and a design that deflects protruding objects from snagging and splitting the sidewall are all features of CoreGard Technology.
Firestone describes its Destination M/T2 as “designed to push your day to its limits.” To achieve this, the M/T2 has an aggressive tread pattern with mud and stone ejectors to keep traction off-road. It also takes advantage of 3-ply sidewall construction for more durability and longer tread life. This is a tire ready to handle wet, muddy, and even snowy conditions.
Comparably priced Pirelli's Scorpion All Terrain Plus tire features an aggressive tread pattern and sidewall construction. It's dependable on and off-road while delivering excellent mud, gravel, wet, and sand traction. It also has a 3-peak mountain snowflake rating for extreme snow service.
Mud terrain tires are unique in that they need special construction to maintain grip on slippery surfaces. We've included two worth considering:
The BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 has an advanced Krawl-TEK compound that has better grip and traction on both rock and slick surfaces. These tires also feature “mud-phobic” bars on their shoulders to expel compacted mud that accumulates between the tire’s massive tread blocks.
Noise level is a common complaint with mud-terrain tires. Nitto's engineers set out to create an aggressive yet quiet off-road tire and came up with the Trail Grappler M/T.
Using 3D simulation, Nitto's engineers systematically adjusted the tread blocks' size, shape, and position. As a result, Nitto delivered an off-road tire that is 34% quieter at street speeds and 36% quieter at highway speeds than its Mud Grappler tires.
If you live, work or play in snowy conditions, we recommend a second set of tires specifically engineered for winter use. Here are two excellent choices for studless snow tires and studdable snow tires for Jeep Wranglers.
To stay safe in winter, we recommend the Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 for its top performance in icy and snowy conditions. These tires have Bridgestone’s unique multicell compound that dispels water and ice from the surface of the tire. Additionally, the block edges for these tires are 15% larger than normal for more control in the snow. Most importantly, this tire is built with special cold temperature weather that maintains stiffness even in freezing temperatures.
The Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT3 is available both in studdable (studs sold separately) and non-studded. As a top choice for winter driving, these tires are designed to be reliable and safe both on icy and snow-covered roads. These tires are officially approved for winter use and come with an aggressive tread design to remove snow and slush buildup for better tire traction. The studded variant also comes with stainless steel studs to reduce corrosion from on-road salt.
For commuters who use their Jeep Wranglers mostly on highway and paved roads, there are some great options for you, which you can still take off-road for weekend adventures.
For the daily driver, an on-road tire that has an emphasis on low road noise and better ride comfort is necessary. Our choice for this is the Continental TerrainContact H/T. This all-season touring tire is designed for light trucks and full-size SUVs but will fit your Jeep Wrangler perfectly. They have a very impressive tread life and some of the best-in-class wet braking of all light truck and SUV all-season tires.
For a blend of daily on-road use and higher performance in wet and snowy conditions, our recommendation is the Michelin Defender LTX M/S. This tire has Michelin’s EverTread Compound for a longer tread life. It also features better stopping and handling in wet and snowy weather conditions.
For people searching for low-priced Jeep tires (we prefer the words "low cost" and "budget priced" to "cheap," which can suggest poor quality), Hankook and Toyo offer some good options.
Hankook Dynapro AT2 RF11 has a long-lasting compound and extended tread life with the combination of cutting-edge fillers and flexible rubber materials. This tire provides low rolling resistance, delivering high mileage to drivers at a lower price than some of its tier 1 and tier 2 peers.
If price is a concern, be sure to check out our easy payment plans. Applying doesn't affect your credit score, and one application will give you several options.
The Toyo Open Country A/T III is our choice for a jack-of-all-trades tire. This means that this tire has great all-season on-road performance, while still having great stability and performance off-road and in difficult weather conditions. This is achieved through Toyo’s advanced tread design, construction, and compound that doesn’t increase road noise when on-road.
The IRONMAN All Country CHT is an excellent, reasonably priced tire for drivers who spend most of their time on the road (no judgment ... not every Jeep driver is an off-roading enthusiast).
The M+S rated Ironman All Country CHT gives your Jeep more reliability, designed for frequent starts, stops, and turns. This tire is ideal for trouble-free everyday usage, with an optimized tread pattern that reduces road noise and delivers balanced tread wear.
It provides a quieter, more pleasant ride while ensuring long-running performance and trouble-free mileage.
